Number One! - Kia Tops J.D. Powers Initial Quality Study

In case you missed it, last month, Kia Motors scored a historic achievement that few automakers can claim. Having established itself as an industry leader in quality and technology, the automaker was named to the number one spot in J.D. Power's 2016 Initial Quality Study (IQS). Kia lead all 33 makes in the United States, marking the first time in more than 25 years that a non-premium brand has ranked first in the study.

Helping Kia rise to the top of the rankings were strong performances from the Sportage and Soul, each ranking number one in their respective categories. Furthermore, Rio, Forte, and Sorento all placed in the top three in their segments.

“Ranking number one in the entire industry for initial quality is the result of Kia’s decade-long focus on craftsmanship and continuous improvement, and reflects the voice of our customers, which is the ultimate affirmation,” said Michael Sprague, chief operating officer and EVP, Kia Motors America. “As the highest ranked brand in the industry, there is no doubt Kia is a world-class automaker.”
